Hunter Soccer Clubhouse News

Hunter's New Clubhouse is just about completed. The building construction phase is finished; additional inside improvements are still anticipated. We had our GRAND OPENING this past Saturday September 11, 2010 !!! Stay tuned for photos and news of the event to be posted shortly.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

The new Hunter Clubhouse is located in Penbryn Park, Abington Township, Pennsylvania. The new address is 220 Houston Avenue, Penbryn Park, Glenside, PA 19038. Hunter worked with township municipal authorities for clearance to begin building the clubhouse on the Penbryn Park Site. The clubhouse has already been used for club meetings and events for the past several months while we tune up a few things around and in the building. With the start of the 2010 fall soccer season, we felt the time was now appropriate to invite everyone to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Hunter Clubhouse. Players, coaches, siblings, parents, friends...EVERYONE ! came out and helped us celebrate our new clubhouse. More news of the event will be posted shortly.

The clubhouse is for all Hunter players, coaches, teams, and families to enjoy. Hopefully, if you haven't already, you will soon get a chance to attend one of our many activities in the clubhouse, such as our in person registrations, intramural league orientations, coach meetings, coach training sessions, club meetings, intramural team celebrations and travel team celebrations. The clubhouse is also now the headquarters for Hunter's Jack Walsh Memorial Tournament held each Columbus Day Weekend.

Below is information and photos of construction and the ground breaking ceremony. We will have photos and a recap of the GRAND OPENING later in September for those who unfortunately did not get a chance to participate.

Ground breaking took place in the spring of 2009. Township and other local authorities were very supportive in helping us make this new clubhouse a reality. Special thanks go to PA State Representative Josh Shapiro and PA Senator Leanna Washington for helping us raise over $200,000 toward the building costs. We would also like to recognize the Township of Abington and all its officials, especially Commissioner Les Benzak, for their support and help.

We are still looking for additional funds and donations to cover all the construction costs and furnishings. Doners can contact Sandy Caiazzo, Fundraising Chairman, about donations, including purchasing Commemorative Bricks (Engraved pavers). Please see below for additional information. Stay tuned to this site for developments. The new Hunter Clubhouse will be a focal point for the club to conduct business and a resourse for its teams to conduct training and team functions.
